He is a graduate of the City College of the City University of New York and the George Mason University School of Law. Mr. Smolen has gained recognition over the past 31 years for his knowledge of complex business transactions, trusts and estates. He incorporates both his business and financial acumen and estate experience to formulate integrated plans for the benefit of his clients. Mr. Smolen has appeared as a guest expert on television programs and has had articles published in various forums. Mr. Smolen is a court appointed mediator to the United States Bankruptcy Court and has been appointed by the Fairfax County Circuit Court, Virginia to serve as a trustee, conservator, and has also been called upon to serve as a member of an independent litigation committee. He is a member of the Fairfax Bar Association, having served in various capacities as Chairman of the Membership Committee (1984-1985) and as a member of the Judicial Screening Committee, (1989-1992). He is also a member of the Washington, D.C. Estate Planning Council. Mr. Smolen presently serves as president of the Bradley Boulevard Citizens Association in Montgomery County, Maryland.
